Primarily, the file extension .PVM denotes two different file formats, which are entirely unique from each other in terms of the data stored and purpose fulfilled by them.

I really do love FileCure because it's so easy to use - you don't have to be some kind of computer guru to get just what you need!

Plug and play? Not even close. I spent a lot of time trying to get my new, so-called 'plug and play' scanner to work. I was about ready to take it back. ParetoLogic FileCure got it working and saved me a needless trip (and gas!!) back to the store.

I have to admit I'm no computer geek. When something goes wrong, I usually have to call someone to fix it and it costs me a lot of money. When my printer wouldn't work, a friend of mine suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure a try. I figured it was worth a shot because I was going to have to pay for a geek anyway. I was so happy when it worked... and worked properly!

Hello FileCure folks:
I can't thank you enough for this great product. I just bought a new Vista machine and had been having all kinds of problems. First it was my screen and once I got that fixed it was the printer . Finally, my son suggested I try your product. It worked great and continues to keep my computer working. Thanks you.

I hate paying a lot of money for anything. That's why I buy mostly used computer equipment. Last week I thought I got taken when I bought a scanner. It just would not work. ParetoLogic Driver Cure got it working. With the updates, it makes sure my stuff will keep working and that I don't have to pay more money.

I work at a school so my mom thinks I am some kind of computer whiz. I have wasted so much time trying to get her stuff to work. Our IT guy suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure. It has been a godsend and has saved me a lot of wasted hours. My mom and I can't thank you enough.

My wife bought me a new Vista system, and ever since I have had problems with some of my hardware. I saw FileCure, and decided to give it a shot. Ever since, the Vista and my hardware have been working great. Thanks!

I upgraded my system to Vista, and my printer started to act funny. No error messages, but it just wasn't working quite right. I read that drivers could sometimes be the problem. I looked online and saw FileCure. After downloading FileCure, my printer works great. You guys rock!

The first one of them serves as a digital image album, while the second one as an index file, enabling us better organize our vital digital content in various forms. Let's have a look at both of these file formats one by one.

1. The file extension .PVM denoting a digital image album is a proprietary file format developed by Hewlett Packard (HP), the well known company offering comprehensive image solutions. Whenever you click a photograph with your HP digital camera, the pictures get saved upon the Flash memory card or the hard disk of your camera. Along with these pictures, the HP digital camera automatically creates a digital photo album consisting of these pictures, which helps you retrieve your favorite ones afterwards. These image albums are actually saved in the .PVM file format. Further, when you connect your Windows PC or Apple Mac with the camera, the HP image browsing application installed upon your system displays you the contents of these image albums, letting you extract the ones you like onto your system.
As the .PVM file extenstion denoting the image albums is a proprietary file format develped by HP, it is quite obvious that image browsing applications by HP can be used to successfully open these files. Previously, an application named HP Image Zone Express was launched, which was fully compatible with opening the .PVM image albums, but now the company has replaced it with a new application called HP Photosmart, which lets you delve deep into the image albums created by the HP digital cameras.
2. The second file format denoted by the .PVM file extension is an index file, helpful in organizing digital content. The file format has been developed by the Optical Storage Technology Association (OSTA), a committee of the optical technology experts and manufacturers. OSTA had formulated Music/Photo/Video (MPV) guidelines containing XML-based specifications which established the standards for exchange of digital content such as images, music and video upon the consumer electronics such as CD, DVD, Memory Card and Hard Disk. The .PVM file format had been developed as a part of the MPV guidelines by the OSTA. Usually, .PVM files contain XML-based instructions leading some other media application to run the media files as specified within the .PVM files.
As .PVM is an XML-based file, it becomes imperative that you'll have to use some kind of application that will interpret the XML data, invoking some other application to follow the XML instructions embedded within the .PVM file. There are some applications available, which might be helpful in opening the .PVM files. Some of them are developed by the OSTA itself, named as OSTA MPV Reader, Writer and Player. Also, a software application Visual MIBrowser is known to be compatible with the XML-based .PVM files, which you may try as well.
As for the file opening errors related with .PVM files, you might encounter these kinds of errors while attempting to run a .PVM file:
1. You might be using a wrong application to open the file. For instance, the .PVM file you've got might be an image album file created by the HP digital camera, but you might be using the OSTA MPV reader for opening it. Similarly, trying to open a OSTA .PVM file with the HP Photosmart won't also lead you anywhere.
2. The file version mismatch might be the root cause of the error. An image album file created by the latest HP digital camera, which is supposed to be opened with HP Photosmart might not be completely supported by HP Image Zone, the older application by the company.
3. You might have associated the .PVM file to be opened by some other application, which would only lead you to see a file opening error, whenever you try to open the file.
4. Any potential Virus or Trojan attack upon your system might have corrupted the file opening application, or the .PVM file itself, leading you only to distress when you attempt to open it.
